We have now completed over 40 Cummins 4BT conversions to date in 40, 55, 60, and 80 series Land Cruisers. Currently there is a wait for these conversions. However, feel free to give us a ring if you have questions and want to get on the list. Please, serious inquiries only.

We have been reusing the stock A/C systems, retrofitted to the 4BTs, and have retrofitted aftermarket cruise control systems to work with factory systems for 80 series Land Cruisers so there is no loss of functionality.

Here at ECR we've had a love affair with the Tdi (or turbo diesel) Land Rover engines for many years. We've seen these engine perform all around the world for many years, and we've tested them on some of the toughest terrain and conditions that North America can offer, from remote wilderness exploration and temps. well below zero during Maine winters, to the extreme trails of Moab, Utah and 11,000 foot high passes in Colorado! We have found these engines to be robust and fuel efficient.

Tired, old CJs in failing health are unable to meet the current emissions standards, and are losing their place on California streets, roads, and highways. The only conceivable (affordable) solution available at hand is the conversion to a diesel power-plant, as both sides of the fence meet at the half-way mark. This is just the beginning.

I found this rig a couple of years ago. It had been in a barn since the late 70s. The interior needs some updating but is in nice shape. I think the Cummins will make a really nice addition, with the price of gas and all. It got 7-8mpg with the 400ci/727auto. I hope to get 15-17mpg with the 215hp/5sp. I usually drive about 60. It weighs in at 9500lbs. Once I start turning it up should be a real hotrod as far as motorhomes go. The above photo has been retouched to show a tag axle that I want to install to help with towing. This photo shows rig with no engine.
